About

James Nicholas Green is a Director and Writer. He’s known for fun, bold content; balancing absurdity and realism, comedy and drama.

Being from a working class background, James’ films often poke fun at social hierarchy with a biting satirical wit. He uses meticulous precision in his visuals, and has a passion for character driven stories.

After various failed hardcore punk bands, James soon found a passion for moving image. His earliest work being comedy sketches and music videos, created whilst studying Design at Kingston Art School. James then moved into TV Creative, being swiftly promoted to a senior position at MTV, where he honed his craft directing and writing commercials for hit shows and top talent in entertainment.

Much like a seasonal cold, he knows how to go viral; with his music videos currently sitting at over 1.6 million Youtube views, and social content attracting over 17.5 million views and 2.6 million likes on TikTok alone.

His award-winning work has garnered wins and nominations from awards such as the UKVAs, the YDAs, Kinsale Sharks, Promax, Berlin Commercial to name a few, along with festival selections from BAFTA and BIFA qualifying festivals such as Aesthetica, Atlanta, LSFF, Raindance, Norwich, ShortCom, Sunderland and many more.

Recent Work

His recent comedy drama short film ‘Victory To The Mimers playfully explored the dire state of Arts funding in the UK. It stars Steve Furst (‘The Serpent Queen’, ‘In The Long Run’), Toto Bruin (‘It’s A Sin’, ‘The Great’) and Lee Ingleby (‘The Long Shadow’, ‘The Hunt For Raoul Moat’).

It enjoyed an award-winning festival run, and is now live on Directors Notes. You can stream the film on Youtube here.

UPCOMING Work

He’s currently preparing to enter pre production on a new comedy short ‘Backfired’, a tale of envy, revenge, and unintended consequences.

Alongside this, he’s close to completing his debut feature screenplay, a comedy thriller, and will soon add a christmas comedy feature, a sketch show pilot, and a rom com to his development slate of screenwriting projects.

Oh, and he’ll be popping off to Disneyworld soon to top up his tan, but that’s a different matter.
