ABOUT

James Nicholas Green is a Director and Writer based in South East London.

He’s known for balancing absurdity and realism across comedy and drama.
His work is defined by meticulous visual precision and an instinct for performance, often championing under-represented protagonists while satirising social hierarchies, something informed by his working-class roots.

James has garnered wins and nominations at the UKMVAs, the YDAs at Cannes Lions, Kinsale Sharks, and Berlin Commercial, alongside official selections from BAFTA and BIFA qualifying festivals including Aesthetica, LSFF, and Raindance, amongst many others.

Recent Work

His recent comedy drama short film ‘Victory To The Mimers playfully explored the dire state of Arts funding in the UK. It was Exec Produced by David Arnold (‘James Bond’, ‘Sherlock’), and stars Steve Furst (‘The Serpent Queen’, ‘In The Long Run’), Toto Bruin (‘It’s A Sin’, ‘The Great’) and Lee Ingleby (‘The Long Shadow’, ‘The Hunt For Raoul Moat’).

It enjoyed an award-winning festival run, and is now live on Directors Notes. You can also stream the film on Youtube here.

EXPERIENCE

Also a seasoned Senior Creative, James brings over a decade of industry experience, having directed high-profile in-house campaigns and TVCs for MTV, collaborating with top entertainment talent on major titles. He’s also worked closely with brands such as ITV, 5, Comedy Central, and Paramount+, to name a few. This technical discipline and network experience blends into his narrative work, offering a "safe pair of hands" with confidence on set and a distinct creative voice.

Now freelance, James is carving out a career in narrative long-form while continuing his work leading major marketing campaigns for global entertainment brands.

In a nutshell, James doesn’t just know how to create compelling content, he knows how to market it too, meaning he can take projects all the way from ideation to delivery. Much like a seasonal cold, he also knows how to go viral. His music videos have surpassed 1.6M YouTube views, while his personal social content has generated over 17.5M views and 2.6M likes on TikTok alone.

IN DEVELOPMENT

His debut feature length screenplay 'TERRORCOTTA' is currently in rewrites, but an earlier draft has already reached Semi Finalist at this years Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival.

He’s currently preparing to enter pre production on a new comedy short ‘Backfired’; a tale of industry classism, envy and revenge. The project recently landed a ‘Longlist’ nomination for the Slick Films Fund, and is also in early development stages of becoming a 3-part web series.

His development slate of projects also includes a christmas comedy feature, a sitcom pilot, a live sketch show and a rom com. Oh yes, a busy bee is he.
